The cash is running low so i'm redecorating and accessorizing with a can of mod podge and one copy of the japanese paper, the asahi shimbun. Project #1 is newsprint covered switch plates.
What's Needed:
1 newspaper
can of mod podge
switchplate covers (the cheapest you can find)
paintbrush or sponge brush
Trace plate cover on newspaper and cut paper to fit.
Spread mod podge on plate cover. I find that if you apply the mod podge to the cover, as opposed to the back of paper, the paper does not wrinkle as much.
Place newsprint on switch cover and smooth out any wrinkles. Let dry.
Apply coat of mod podge on top of paper and let dry. Apply 3-5 coats, depending on how thick you want the surface to be. When the mod podge is completely dry, spray on a thin layer of clear acrylic for extra protection.
