Recycled Shirt Pillow Covers

more living

While cleaning out the closet I decided to recycle some old pullover shirts from Abercrombie and Fitch rather than toss them in the donate pile. I noticed they were about the same size as some throw pillows I had just bought, so alas, they now cover the pillows.

What's Needed:

Any shirt, pullover or button down, will do. This one happened to be about the same width as the pillow, so not much cutting was needed.

To make: cut the front and the back into two squares of equally sized fabric. On the front of the shirt I sewed together the v-neck. Then sew both pieces together on three sides, leaving one side open in which to fill pillow.

If you are using batting, rather than a pillow, you can then sew the fourth side closed. If you use a pillow you can attach a zipper or buttons to the fourth side so you can easily remove the cover for washing.
